Problem with connection to an NG sevrer

i have this problem on a NG server (Ubuntu 9.10, standard xpilot-ng package) I cant connect to it until i kill the server and then restart it...
the client is a bloodspilot 1.4.2 the two machines (client/server) are connected via a unmanaged switch..

If you could publish your start script (minus any possible password(s)) and the map file we could try to see if we can reproduce the problem. Maybe we could learn something new.

yeah i have narrowed it down to the client... i tried the latest git client and it seems to work fine... if i get it again i will look into it more...
with some packet dumps etc...

I realize this thread is very old, but - was the issue behind this ever identified? I'm seeing an identical problem connecting to a 4.5.5 server, which has never happened to me before. Same "Unknown packet type (55, 20)" error on server side, with "WARNING: Server closed connection" and "WARNING: Network start failed" on client side. Client is BloodsPilot 1.4.0.
